Once upon a time, there was a love team of Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin. They were paired in the movie “Sigaw” under Regal Films which was made into a Hollywood movie. On television under GMA 7, they were paired in “Mulawin”. When GMA Films produced the movie “Let The Love Begin”, they were paired again.
The movie is about a high school student played by Richard who works as a school janitor in order to finish high school and to continue studying in college so that he will have better opportunities in life together with his grandmother played by Gloria Romero who is taking care of him since he is now an orphan. He secretly loves Angel, who is a rich girl. Since he is poor, he just loves her from a distance. The lady student is having a hard time in passing her subjects which poses more problems since her father (Tonton Gutierrez) keeps comparing her with his late son (Polo Ravales) was a very studious when he was alive. During one morning class, the lady wrote a Physics problem in the chair assigned to her. This was seen by Richard who happens to sit in the same chair during an evening class of a different subject. He provided the solution to her and sent her the message. The following morning, she saw it and it helped her. From then on, the 2 exchanged messages without the lady knowing personally her savior. She almost caught him one evening, but he switched places with male classmate during one time. However, she admired the intelligence of her secret lover. Advised by his friends (Mark Herras, Jennilyn Mercado and Bearwin Meilly) to openly court his lady love, he decided to pay a visit at her home. But, he was too late. She and her father left for the U.S.
A few years passed. Angel is now a young executive working in a company. Richard is still studying but works as supervisor of janitors in the said company but is very good in the troubleshooting of computer problems. This time, he saves her again from trouble. The computer used by Angel broke down but Richard was able to fix it when she left the office one evening, thinking that it will not function again. But the following morning it worked and was able to use it in preparing a business presentation. The two finally got to know each other very well but she still does not know that he was her long time savior. Later, they have some misunderstandings and lost communication. But they later saw each other again, when he was about to leave for abroad for further studies in the field of information technology, when she found out that the old lady who she helped one time is the grandmother of her long time savior. The movie ends in the airport when both of them expressed their love for each other.
If I recall, this is the comeback of GMA Films in producing movies. The love team of Mark Herras and Jennilyn Mercado, both alumnae of the first Star Struck, was introduced in this film. It was promoted by a soundtrack which contained various versions of the theme song and a music video which showed some scenes of the movie.
QTV 11 and GMA 7 sometimes screen this movie for the benefit of those who wants to see it again and for other film buff. For others, they may have DVD or CD of it for them to see.
When we will see Richard and Angel again in a movie? If there is a good story and a right project for them, then it will be a go. Let’s wait and see, folks!
